A renewable energy source such as hydrogen power is a great alternative to fossil fuels. There are many benefits to using Hydrogen power . One benefit is that Hydrogen atoms are found in many places on the earth. They can be found in air, water, biomass, natural gas, and paired with many other elements such as carbon and nitrogen. Even some algae and bacteria give off hydrogen in certain conditions with power from from the sun!
Hydrogen atoms combine with oxygen atoms to make water!!!

To extract the hydrogen atoms from these substances is a process called reforming hydrogen. This is done by applying heat to hydrocarbons, which hydrogen is made from. There are different ways to extract hydrogen from different substances.
Electrolysis is the process of splitting hydrogen atoms from water. Steam reformation is the way to separate hydrogen atoms that have bonded with carbon atoms in methane.

Methane reacts with steam at 750-800°C (1380-1470oF) to produce a synthesis gas, which is a mixture primarily made up of hydrogen (H2) and carbon monoxide (CO).
Overall, Hydrogen can be found in many places on the earth, and is very retrievable!
Hydrogen can also be used to make hydrogen batteries! These batteries can be fueled up with extra hydrogen at any time, so they will store and give off more energy than regular batteries. This is a major advantage! Fuel cells can also be made. These convert fuel (in this case hydrogen:) into an electrical power. Fuel cells will produce energy and never lose their charge as long as hydrogen can be supplied to them. This is another major advantage!
Fuel Cell!!!!! As you can see, Hydrogen is supplied to the machine (with oxygen) and it produces electric power!! A machine that uses hydrogen will produce little to no pollution!
Producing no emissions in the air is a key upside from hydrogen power. People are looking for ways to power machines (like cars) without distributing harmful gases into the air. Hydrogen is a safe solution for the environment.
